- A marriage and family therapist licensed by examination is exempt at the first renewal after initial licensure.
- Up to 2 of the 20 hours may be met by unpaid counseling services to low-income people through a local health department or free clinic: one hour credited for every three hours of service.
- Somebody holding more than one license from this board completes the hours once, not once for each license.
