Ethics Synchronous only: in person or live online. 5 hours
Core hours in marriage and family therapy Of the 30 hours that are not ethics; the rest may be in a related specialty. 15 hours
Asynchronous hours A limit, not a target. At most 10 hours
Renewal cycle Every 2 years
Hours are due September 30 of even-numbered years
  • The cycle runs from October 1 of an even-numbered year to September 30 of the next even-numbered year.
  • A license first issued on or after October 1 of an odd-numbered year needs no hours at its first renewal.
  • Independent study counts for no more than 5 hours, and never as ethics or core hours.
  • No more than 20 hours may come from one course, workshop or presentation.
