| Ethics Synchronous only: in person or live online. | 5 hours |
| Core hours in professional counseling Of the 30 hours that are not ethics; the rest may be in a related specialty. | 15 hours |
| Asynchronous hours A limit, not a target. | At most 10 hours |
| Renewal cycle | Every 2 years |
| Hours are due | September 30 of even-numbered years |
- The cycle runs from October 1 of an even-numbered year to September 30 of the next even-numbered year.
- A license first issued on or after October 1 of an odd-numbered year needs no hours at its first renewal.
- Independent study counts for no more than 5 hours, and never as ethics or core hours.
- No more than 20 hours may come from one course, workshop or presentation.
