• Licenses expire every two years, on July 31 of the renewal year.
• At least 75 percent of the hours in a renewal period must be real-time, interactive participation.
• Up to 10 of the 40 hours may come from two of: presenting at a counseling seminar or conference, peer-reviewed publication, or service on a counseling board or in a professional office.
• A first license issued for less than 24 months is prorated at 1.67 hours for each month, rounded up, with 6 hours in ethics.
